Pressure too low
In a test, an additional consumption of about 0.7 litres of fuel per 100 km was measured when the tyre pressure was only a measly 0.8 bar instead of the prescribed 2 bar. This not only costs money, it can even be dangerous. When driving fast, the tyre is rolled and thus heats up to 120°C after only 20 minutes of brisk driving. This can destroy the tyre. Scary image: burst tyre at 160 km/h. Usually a car tyre needs about 2.5 bar, measured on a cold tyre! The exact pressure value can be found in the vehicle or tyre manufacturer's specifications.

Pressure too high
And what about overinflation? Slightly higher pressure up to about 0.3 bar on a cold tyre reduces rolling resistance and thus fuel consumption. As the tyre warms up while driving, the actual pressure increases by another 0.1 to 0.2 bar. But that should be the end of it. Even more pressure not only reduces driving comfort but also reduces the contact surfaces between asphalt and rubber. And only these contact surfaces ultimately transmit all forces (braking and accelerating) to the road. In addition, the tyres wear unevenly.

How to regulate?
Fine, we know that now. But how do I regulate tyre pressure other than at the petrol station? Compressor! One of those huge things that makes an awful lot of noise? It can be smaller, much smaller. We now offer a battery-operated small compressor, small, handy, quiet. The device weighs just over a pound (600 grams exactly), delivers over 10 bar (150 PSI) of pressure and can inflate up to 6 car tyres from 0 to 2.5 bar with one battery charge.

Off-road riding
When riding off-road, on soft ground or in snow, it is a good idea to reduce the tyre pressure. This increases the contact area between the ground and the tyres. Of course, the speed must also be reduced accordingly so that the tyre does not overheat. After the off-road ride, inflate the tyres to normal pressure again with the battery compressor.

Motorcyclist
With its small dimensions and low weight, the device can easily be stowed in a rucksack or tank bag. Correct tyre pressure is even more important on a motorbike than on a car: there are only 2 contact surfaces with the road instead of 4, and the tyres are particularly stressed when leaning in a bend.

Reliable and easy to use
The operation is comfortable. Pre-select the desired pressure via the display and the compressor stops when the value is reached. There is also a built-in light, which is very useful in the event of a puncture. Various adapters for bicycle tyres, balls, etc. are included. The battery has a capacity of 2600 mAh and is charged via a USB-C connection. The housing is made of solid light metal, and a transport bag and charging cable are included.
