Classic car rear lights at SC Parts

For rear lights and classic car rear lights it is difficult to find a suitable article due to the many special first registration regulations. With us you will find a well advertised range of stop, and rear lights and reflectors. Please read on and get a first overview of our classic car rear lights!

Which rear light does my classic car need?

Vehicles built up to year 1965 can choose from universal items. Vehicles built after that require specific rear lights depending on the brand and model. Normally, a rear light must emit red light to the rear, and the same applies to a stop light. For classic cars, things are a little bit different, because here it depends on the first registration of your car. This date determines whether your classic car…

… must have any lighting equipment at all.

… must have license plate lights.

… fog lights are mandatory.

… must have a red stop light or this may be yellow.

Oldtimers with a date of first registration before 01.01.1963 may also emit yellow stop light and are still StVZO-compliant.

Another exemption worth knowing about concerns intermittent brake blinker lights, i.e. a light that is both a flasher and a stop light in a classic car. This is also permitted up to a date of first registration up to 31.12.1969 and is StVZO-compliant.

So it's the best to find out exactly about the relevant StVZO regulation for your classic car model. We are also glad to advise you via contact form or personally on the phone, via live chat or in one of our stores!

Classic car rear lights: round or square design?

That again depends on your classic car type! Especially if you have just bought your first classic car, it can be difficult to assess whether all parts on the vehicle are original and standard as type.

Sometimes it can happen that supposedly well-preserved classic cars were self-tinkered, and then you wonder why you can not find equivalent spare parts for classic car lighting. Here at SC Parts you are well advised and will find among our lights the right one for your classic car!

Stop and rear lights for classic cars

Lights with flat or appealing curved glass lens, held with chrome ring, or lights that need to be fixed with a screw - the selection, especially of the smallest stop and rear lights, is extremely large at SC Parts. All lights from our warehouse can be installed in various types of vehicles as desired, if the light pleases - even if a specific classic vehicle is mentioned in the description.

A particularly nice model from our range is the "Pork Pie" from Lucas Type ST-38, which comes with integrated license plate lighting and indicators.

Reversing headlights chrome plated or with plastic housing

In terms of classic car rear lights and headlamps, we offer a choice of Lucas headlamp with clear glass and chrome-plated socket. This rear light is mounted on the car by using a bracket.

If chrome does not fit to your type of vehicle, we have other models with plastic housing, for example, for the Land Rover Series III (1971-85). This is fixed at the rear via 2 bolts and has no bracket of its own.

License plate lights optionally chrome-plated or with rear light

You also have a wide choice of models and designs for our license plate lights. If, for example, you are not allowed to install an intermittent rear light, but you like the "Pork Pie", we can reassure you. We have the same model without integrated flashing light in the assortment!

Because the "Pork Pie" is generally considered a very popular rear light for universal mounting on classic cars. But with us you can also find lights completely adapted to a type, such as those for MG TA models from chassis number 1790.

Classic car rear fog lights and reflectors

Rear fog lights are required by law for all vehicles with a date of first registration from 01.01.1991. Older vehicles can be retrofitted with them without further ado.

The rear reflectors or reflectors on the classic car must be red and, in addition, must not be triangular.

This shape is reserved exclusively for trailers. Therefore, we offer only round as well as red emitting reflectors, which you can find here in a diameter of 53 mm.

Here we offer some with flat cover glass and noble chrome frame. If you are looking for a reflector with conical cover glass in the style of the 60s, you will find it here.

We answer your questions about rear lights!

Is the gasket included?

Most of our rear lights are supplied without the gasket. The gasket is available separately from us.

Are the illuminants included?

With most of our rear lights, the bulbs are included. If not, then these are linked in the product and can be ordered. All glasses are of course provided with the E-mark.

My classic car was registered for the first time before 01.01.1954, do I need reflectors, rear and stop lights?

No, there is no obligation to retrofit these before 01.01.1954. Also not for a license plate illumination of the headlamps for high and low beam. This obligation only exists for hazard warning lights!
