Which classic car turn indicators are suitable for my vehicle?
In Germany, classic car turn indicators must emit orange light according to the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) - just like classic car rear lights. In other countries there are different regulations. When importing a vehicle, you must convert those lights that are not approved in Germany. This can be done by…
- a complete replacement of the lights,
- only replacement of the glasses,
- or use of incandescent lamps with orange coloration
The parking light or marker light must radiate white towards the front. But here there are specific regulations of the country that must be observed during importation as part of an inspection too.
If you can call an MGB TR6 your own, then you need specific turn indicators - for all other classic vehicles, classic cars and youngtimers, you can choose from the universal range.
Turn signals were originally manually operated indicators, so called winkers, which were installed on the side of the vehicle.
It was not until 1925 that this changed with Robert Bosch: He invented an electrically fold-out indicator that was also illuminated. The prototype of the indicators was born!
As the top speeds of vehicles became higher and higher the wind caused more and more difficulties when folding out the indicator. Almost 25 years later, it was Bosch again that offered a solution: it invented the first indicators with lights as an alternative to the fold-out turn signal.

Orange curved indicators
This indicators from our range is installed instead of the rear reflector and thus allows separate brake and indicators lights. Suitable for: Austin Healey; all vehicles except Germany exports:

Are vehicles still allowed to drive equipped with historical indicators?
If the vehicle was first registered before April 1, 1974, indicators with yellow flashing lights or pendulum indicators are also permitted - provided that the vehicle length does not exceed 4.0 m and the vehicle width does not exceed 1.6 m.
Are my turn signals allowed to emit red light to the rear?
Yes, if your vehicle was first registered before January 1, 1970, the indicators that light up to the rear may also emit red light.
Is intermittent brake indicator light permitted?
Intermittent brake indicator lights, i.e. brake and indicator lights combined in one light chamber, are permitted on vehicles first registered before December 31, 1969.
