Sporty Porsche Books

Ladies and Gentlemen,
valued customers,
when browsing through the classifieds of a classic car paper one could come to the conclusion that at least every Porsche ever build, survived. When looking at today's publishing programs, it's becoming a certainty that no other car brand ever existed. We have been browsing through the huge pile of Porsche books and selected a few, we would like to recommend.
If you are looking for something else, please ask.

Porsche 718+804
1961 was the year of the all new 1,5 ltr formula one. Porsche took his chance and started with the model 718, deriving from the spider. In 1962 Porsche introduced the 804, with a horizontally opposed eight cylinder engine. As the whole car, including frame, body and brakes has been build by Porsche itself, the 804 is known as the last completely German formula one car. The 804 was a wonderful car, but too expensive, too slow and no reliant enough to beat the British competition. But still, the story is nice and this very complete documentation about Porsche's trial is worth completing your Porsche book collection.

Porsche Carrera
This book is all about Carrera, the badge that proves sport performance on Porsche cars. This book, edited from the Porsche Museum, shows the history of the engines, used in Carrera cars. From the first "Fuhrmann" engine to the later 6 cylinder engines of the early 60's, rare and previously unseen documents show how the development took place. Additionally, all motor sport events, where Carrera cars went into competition, were collected here. All frame and engine numbers, used in competition have been sorted out and documented. A book fascinating for its completeness.

Porsche Drive
After his last book «Escapes», Stefan Bogner returns to the Alps again with this illustrated book. This time he did not only photograph particular routes, but he looked for the ideal tour through the Alps: 3 countries, 14 passes - the perfect little escape for 4 days.
Different from Bogner’s photographs in «Escapes» or «CURVES», where Bogner just presents dreamlike empty streets, «Porsche Drive» focuses on the journey in Porsche models like Porsche 906, Porsche 911, Porsche 918 and more. Stefan Bogner drives his own Porsche 911 1970 ST.

Porsche 928
The 928 was originally designed as a replacement for the legendary 911, although traditionalists wouldn’t let the air-cooled machine die, and the fuel crisis that occurred soon after the new Grand Tourer was launched meant its stunning performance on the road would not be matched in the showrooms.

Porsche 917
This magnificent book tells the story of the most important Porsche 917 of all - the one that gave Porsche its first victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours. In 1970 the world’s greatest sports car race was ravaged by periods of torrential rain but through it all came 917-023, driven by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood, to achieve a landmark success for the German manufacturer. This book provides detailed insight into not only this race but also the six others in which 917-023 took part, supported by a superb collection of period photographs, many in colour. All Porsche fans will love this addition to the «Great Cars» series.

Carrera RS - new edition 2015
The book describes the origin of the "Carrera legend," which is followed by a portrayal of earlier Carrera types. The key part of the book are the chapters that cover the development and technical specifications of the Carrera RS. The optional equipment is shown in detail. The technical aspects and motor sport career of the RSR race version is extensively documented. The research for the new edition spanned over three full years and the authors were happy that Porsche opened its archive for them, allowing glimpses of internal notes and other period documentation.
