Jaguar Mk7, Mk8 and Mk9 (1950-1961)

Jaguar Mk7, Mk8 and Mk9 (1950-1961)

Succeeding the very classic looking Mk5, Jaguar launched the Mk7 Saloon in 1950. This full-size luxury car was the first without separate wings, the engine was the 3,4ltr. XK engine. The model remained unchanged for quite a while. In 1956 the Mk8 was presented. It used the same body as its predecessor, but was even more powerful. But there was no suitable habitat for the large cat: In 1958 England had just 7 miles of motorway.
The Mk9 was the last stage of evolution. Equipped with the 3.8 liter engine, a three-speed automatic transmission and disc brakes were available for the first time. The Mk9 was the most successful model in the series and still is an impressive and technically appealing car.
